1950, October 15th - Firefighter Earl John Wilkinson - Lake Dreamland Fire District
While responding to a reported fire, the fire truck that Firefighter Wilkinson was riding in left the roadway and overturned. Firefighter Wilkinson was transported to General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Firefighter Wilkinson was 45 years old at the time of his death and was survived by his wife and three children.
2005, March 16th - Sergeant Andre Mike Ellis - Dixie Suburban Fire District
Sergeant Ellis and another firefighter had completed setup and run through testing of a search and rescue course involving hose evolutions in a building under renovation when he collapsed. EMS was summoned and care was initiated. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounce dead.
Sergeant Ellis joined the Dixie Suburban Fire District in 1999. He was the District's Fireman of the Year in 2003. He had earned a promotion to the rank of Sergeant and served as the Chief Training Officer for the District.
Sergeant Ellis was 39 years old at his time of his death and was survived by his wife & parents.
2020, October 24th - Colonel Brian R. Morgan - Pleasure Ridge Park Fire District
Colonel Brian Morgan suffered a fatal heart attack hours after engaging in physically stressful and strenuous line-of-duty activity.
Colonel Morgan joined the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire District in 1992, and was serving as the Deputy Chief. At various times, he had served in every rank of the District except for Chief.
Colonel Morgan was 46 years old at the time of his death and was survived by his wife, four sons, father, and sister.
